Hey everyone! My name is Chantelle. I’m thankful that you are here!
That is me, on the right.
A little about me: I have grown up and continue to live in the same small community in Illinois for my whole life. As a child I spent a lot of my time outside in the woods on my parents' farm. I would often pretend that I was an explorer on a trek through a wild unknown land.
This is a picture of a time that my dad came to check on me. (I’m in the white shirt.) I had talked my friend into climbing a large “cliff” only to find that when we reached the top it was overgrown with multiflora rose and we were basically stuck. :-)
I met my husband and best friend in high school and we were married in 1993 shortly after my eighteenth birthday and high school graduation.
A few years later we had a sweet baby girl.
A few of my favorite things are:
My professional life: I have been a licensed early childhood educator providing care for children in my home for over twenty years. I currently serve on the Child Care Resource & Referral of Midwestern Illinois advisory council. I have a Nature Explore certified classroom, as well as participate in a variety of other programs.
Why I started this blog: I’ve created this blog as a way to help other early childhood educators by sharing ideas about how to organize and set up environments that are the most beneficial to children. I also wanted to share ways in which I achieved NAFCC accreditation and other credentials. I am constantly striving to learn and evolve the way that I do things on a regular basis. If you have a passion for children and early education, you will love it here. :-)
Please take the time to subscribe to Under the Oak Tree and we can take this journey together.
